Don't miss out on an afternoon of top class racing featuring two races over the iconic Grand National fences.
Becher Chase Day is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in a pre-Christmas, live sporting event at one of the world’s most iconic racecourses, Aintree. For those who love The Grand National Festival, Becher Chase is the only other chance to see some of the sport’s heavyweights battle over the well-known fences such as Becher’s Brook, Canal Turn and Valentine’s.
The Becher Chase is a Grade Three National Hunt chase open to horses aged five years or older, which is run over a distance of about 3 miles and 2 furlongs and where runners and riders jump twenty-one fences. Two past winners have gone on to win the Grand National; Amberleigh House and Silver Birch. Earth Summit won the race in 1998 following his Grand National win the prior April. The second race of the day over the Grand National fences is the The Grand Sefton Handicap Steeple Chase.
For the first time during this fixture, Aintree will be operating a joint telecast with fellow Jockey Club Racecourse, Sandown Park to televise every moment of the Betfair Tingle Creek fixture. Believed to be a first for the sport in the UK, both racecourses have worked with Racing UK to ensure a live broadcast on raceday, with expert analysis and interviews on the ground, is available at both sites. Previous winners' of the two mile Tingle Creek Chase include Un De Sceux, Kauto Star, Desert Orchid and Sprinter Sacre.
