Esteemed Racing Broadcaster Nick Luck Joins Aintree Committee

Friday 2nd December 2016 – Nick Luck, one of the most respected racing broadcasters has been appointed by The Jockey Club as a Racecourse Committee Director at Aintree Racecourse – the home of the Randox Health Grand National.

Nick is currently the lead presenter on Channel 4 Racing fronting the weekly Saturday afternoon coverage including crown jewel racing fixtures such as the Randox Health Grand National, The Investec Derby and The Cheltenham Festival. He has been the anchor for Channel 4’s Morning Line and has been voted Racing Broadcaster of the Year six times. He’s also a regular contributor to Thoroughbred Racing Commentary.

Nick’s other work has included reporting on eight Breeders’ Cups (three Emmy Nominated & three Eclipse awards) for US Networks ESPN and NBC, hosting the International coverage of the Arc for Equidia, and contributing to a raft of publications, including The Evening Standard, The Guardian and The Sunday Telegraph. 

Earlier in his career, he appeared on Racing UK at its launch in 2004 after 18 months as part of the original attheraces team, and was a presenter on its inaugural broadcast before going to host all major events for the channel over an eight year period.

I’m thrilled to be able to work with Chairman, Rose Paterson and the rest of the Committee to bring my experience and help support and continue the great work on the Randox Health Grand National, other Aintree racedays and all aspects of the racecourse business.”

Luck takes up his non-executive role from 1st January 2017 with the Randox Health Grand National Festival being the first fixture from Thursday 6th until Saturday 8th April.

From 1st January 2017, the Aintree Committee will consist of Chairman Rose Paterson, Kevin Byram, Clarissa Daly, Alan Halsall, Nick Luck, Euan McAlphine, Nicholas Wrigley.
