All you need to know about road closures and access to the local area on racedays

This page is designed to provide local residents of Aintree with updates regarding road closures and access to the area on racedays as well other useful information.

The Crabbie's Grand National Festival, 7-9 April 2016

Once again, this year the implementation of the road closures for the Aintree Grand National Meeting and management of them prior to and during the event will be carried out by Aintree Racecourse Company Ltd. Aintree Racecourse has contracted SEP Traffic Management Company to manage the closures on their behalf. Merseyside Police has supported both SEP and Aintree in the planning of the above.

The plan is aimed at the safety of persons attending the event and the local communities, whilst working to minimise the disruption that it causes. Your understanding and assistance is requested to help Aintree Racecourse Ltd, SEP and Merseyside Police in carrying out their job.

The following road closures will operate on Thursday 7th, Friday 8th & Saturday 9th April 2016 during the hours of 4pm and 8pm Thursday & Friday, 5pm and 9pm on Saturday to facilitate the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians at the end of the race meeting:

  • Warbreck Moor between Park Lane and the Black Bull, including all side streets.
  • Ormskirk Road between Topham Drive and Park Lane.
  • Park Lane between Ormskirk Road and Bridle Road

Please note that during exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to implement any or all of the above closures outside of the pre-determined hours detailed without prior notice.

If you should see anything suspicious, or of an unusual nature in the run up to or indeed during the Grand National Race meeting please contact Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. In the case of an urgent call you should use the ‘999’ system as you would for any normal emergency requiring immediate Police attention.

Enquiries relating to Traffic Issues should be directed to SEP on 07482 327969. Please note this line only operates during the operational hours of the event.

Please find attached a schedule of road closures and parking restrictions which will be put in place as part of the traffic management plan.

We will be holding the 2016 Grand National Residents Meeting on the 15th February at 18.30 – Princess Royal Stand
